Stewart Hirsch is the Managing Director of Strategic Relationships LLC, a business development and executive coaching firm. His clients include executives in the C-Suite, among them General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officers.
Clients report that Stewart makes them more effective by helping them to trust their natural intuition, build trust in critical relationships, unlock confidence, communicate clearly, prioritize and focus. He also helps his clients prepare for difficult conversations, examine and augment strengths and address weaknesses, and coaches them on strategic and tactical planning and implementation. Stewart works with professionals in law and consulting firms, helping them to develop business opportunities and to cross market.
Stewart’s approach includes coaching on building trust-based relationships along with internal and external networking. In addition to serving as Managing Director of Strategic Relationships, he leads the coaching practice for Trusted Advisor Associates, LLC. and publishes blogs on creating trusted advisor relationships. He has articles published in ABA publications, Lawyers USA and Lawyers Weekly print and online papers, and writes a column for Inside Counsel Magazine on talent development. In 2017 and 2019, Stewart was named the top business development coach in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Readers Poll.
Stewart has spoken at numerous conferences, on a variety of topics about relationship building, including for the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the New England Corporate Counsel Association, bar associations and others. He facilitates educational programs on diversity and inclusion, including programs for professional services firms on “pitching” to diverse clients, developing sponsors, allies and mentor for diverse lawyers, and helping women prepare to be general counsel. He also delivers highly interactive workshops for law firms and consulting firms on business development.
He has co-lead workshops with Caroline Turner including at the Women, Influence & Power in Law Conference in Washington, DC, on “Leveraging Your Masculine and Feminine Strengths for Influence and Power,” at the annual conference of the Association of Legal Administrators and for a Legal Marketing Association regional conference on the topic of “Reducing Unconscious Bias.”
From 1980 to 2001, Stewart practiced law in a variety of environments, including a large law firm, a boutique law firm, and as in-house counsel. His in-house legal work included legal departments in a number of national and multi-national companies including The TJX Companies, Staples, Welch’s and D&B subsidiaries.
As an attorney he regularly worked with and advised senior executives. He acted as General Counsel of three companies on a contract basis. Stewart holds degrees from Rider University and Boston University School of Law. He founded Strategic Relationships LLC initially to help lawyers and other professionals with business development and has expanded his focus to include leadership and executive development and diversity and inclusion.
